Description

Blown in by Hurricane Newton, this is one of the few that survived the storm and spent a day at a man-made lake in Mesa. Very small storm-petrel with a distinct white wedge on the rump. There are 2 sub-species of this bird; one that breeds on the Galapagos Islands and the second that breeds on islands off the coast of Peru. Preliminary evaluations and measurements from deceased birds of this storm, are indicating this is the Peruvian sub-species.
