changed to hybrid |
@convallaria changed it to a species on February 20 of this year. I've changed it back.
I changed the rank to species (without the removal of the × sign) for the sake of convenience and inclusion in the AI id model as the hybridogeneous species (may be of artificial origin but is nevertheless a species) is quite reliably identified by the current id model and often found as a naturalized alien
although it may not be strictly correct, I believe convenience in this case to be more important than rank designation
It typically is no more or less a hybrid than, for example, Malus domestica and probably somewhat less a hybrid (and more a hybridogenous species) than this critter https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/380721-Begonia-semperflorens-cultorum , which is not known outside cultivation but gets the advantage of being included in the ID model, unlike this one
Ranked at species but should be a hybrid
