April 24, 2015 -- Sessiid trapping begins

Today, I set out my two sessiid traps. Each one is hanging on a PVC pole in the Backyard area of the SERC. A sessiid trap is designed to attract and capture moths that are specifically wasp mimics in the Family Sessiidae:

These moths are amazingly beautiful and difficult to find withot the use of pheromone traps. I have used two different pheromones ( 1 in each trap) to see which one draws which species. According to the instructions have hung the traps 40 feet apart.

We will watch and see how they actually do! All species trapped will be recorded here.
