Description

Medium sized specimen, approximately 40 ft tall. Dark, furrowed bark. Large, light green, ridged, hairy leaves that are about 4 inches long. Developing large acorns.

About 2 inches, black body that continues on to its tail and buttery yellow stripes, concentrated light blue tail, tip of the tail might have been severed

Description

Purple and cool.

Found with several of its buds (hah) out in the sun, probably doing flower stuff.

Some were leaned sideways, so maybe they were napping.

Lots in the area.

Western Forest Scorpion (Uroctonus mordax)

Description

This small forest scorpion was the size of a pray mantis. The small pinchers helps it gather its food. It was found deep into the forest within a shady spot. It was underneath a log, which had shade. It isn't a fan of the heat like other scorpion it also went inside a hole.

Western Morning Glory (Calystegia occidentalis)

Description

This wild flower was found in a very dry landscape with hundreds more in the area. It was visibly new and healthy. Compared to majority of the other flowers this one in particular seemed to be quite larger with about four inches in height.

Description

These damsel fly lava were found in the water of Turtle Pond. They were different shades of green and about 2 cm long. There were at least a dozen others in the ares, but most likely more.They have little heads with long bodies and 4 legs used to swim. There was also 2 small legs or tails at the end of the body

Description

This bumblebee was deceased underneath the fig tree at Goodmans Homestead. It had a fur covered body and a yellow head. I would assume the bee was searching for pollen, when it passed away. RIP

Purple flowering thistle on the way to some blackberry bushes.

Small, 2 1/2 inches long. Pitch black body with yellow legs. Thinner tail and claws. Found living underneath a log.

Description

The butterfly appeared to have a silver body with sliver antennas. The butterfly also had white wings. The butter fly with the wings included appears to be 2.5 inches in height and 1.5 inches in width.

Description

This western skink was found in a mixed evergreen forest. It had a blue tail and black body with tan stripes running down the side of the body ending at tail. No other skinks were seen in the area.

Description

The tree bark of the tree is brown and ruff. There is an orange layer to the tree that has been peeled off of some areas of the tree revealing a yellow smooth layer to the tree. The orange layer to the tree has a rough texture to it and a bit crusty. There was dried up moss on one side of the tree. The tree also had some holes. The tree appears to being eaten by some light brown small bugs.

Curled up in its defensive posture... I'm guessing a mountain biker scared it since we found it in the middle of the trail looking like this.

This newt was swimming in a large puddle in a dry creek bed. The pool was about 5.5 feet in diameter and had leaves and grass floating in it. It was about .5 feet deep. It was 4-5 inches long.
