I saw these white berries while apple picking. They were about the size of blueberries. The red leaves are due to the season, as I found another bush in a more shaded region with green leafage.

greyish brown spider about 6 cm including the legs. Found in the corner ceiling of the bathroom.
creature of around 1-1.5 cm
This was one of two crickets I caught chirping. The other one bolted before I managed to get a decent shot.
...which one? I'm fairly convinced this is myrmeleontid, and not a "skinny dobsonfly" like I had originally thought. Scotoleon, Myrmeleon, and Brachynemurus all seem like options.
Observed at night in a mixed chaparral / grassland area in Oakland, CA, USA, along with many others. ~2-3 cm total body size.
Update: ID provided by John Oswald on BugGuide.
A few weeks early on the blueberries at this altitude. I have no idea what species these were.
At least, I think it's an anthopleura xanthogrammica. Whatever it is, it was cool looking...
Don't know what it is, will find out eventually.
Pretty sure it is a thrush, I'm thinking hermit thrush, perhaps it is a veery. The little guy was too fast for me to get a good photo, good camouflage too.
This bird was mainly on the ground. I saw it in late morning.
Found this cool moth by a house light around my apartment (location is just Oakland, not exactly where I found it). Think it might be an arctiid, but not sure yet.
Finally got an ID on this guy. Its a Northern Giant Flag Moth. The only species of Dysschema found in the U.S.
Flew in the car at a gas station somewher ein eastern Oklahoma.
There are quite a few blues flying at the moment.
Found along a scrubby trail, near some redwoods, beside a residential area.
