Peace Region Pollinators Project

Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to give a bit of an introduction and background on why I created this project.

My name is Justine, I grew up in the Peace River area, and I am currently completing my master's degree in ecology at the University of Calgary. I am currently studying how urbanization impacts plant-pollinator interactions and pollinator preferences for native or non-native plants. I have been using community science through iNaturalist and the Calgary Pollinators Project to collect data for my study. I am also looking into the benefits of community science!

I wanted to create a similar project for the Peace Region to encourage people to participate in community science and learn about the world around them. I had such a fun time with the pollinator project this summer and I wanted to share this opportunity with others! Hopefully we can document some unique plant-pollinator interactions in the Peace Country!

I am in the process of searching out observations from years prior to add to the project data base. Please message me if you are interested in becoming more involved with this project! Whether you are a plant or insect enthusiast or are just starting out and want to learn about pollinators and/or plants, this is a great project to start!
