This jambu tree was fruiting when this photograph was taken, and there was evidence of anthropogenic activity near the tree; for example, brooms and dustpans to sweep up the fruits were present. It is not clear as to whether or not this tree was a wild specimen or one that was planted by the senior citizens' committee nearby, although the latter would seem unlikely, since its position was fairly out of the way. Nevertheless, the juicy fruits are always an appreciated treat and dessert in Singapore, where locals traditionally dip the Styrofoam-like fruits into soy sauce or sour plum powder for taste.
