Field obs: Small chestnut/brown capped bolete. 3 cm cap. Very purple stipe hollow inside. Smell typical no staining anywhere very bitter. Ivory pores. Growing from exposed bank in mesic hardwood forest. Mushroom is fairly small but I think the hollow stipe is due to insects and not actually being old or hollow. Stipe was very purple but not as bright as it appears in shot with external light.
