Description

What a drama: the same moment we opened the window blinds of the observation tower, a male goshawk caught and drowned a coot in the freezing cold lake. The flock of coots was in utter panic, swimming back and forth as a tight group, but sometimes passing the goshawk very closely while the latter was still swimming and trying to drag his prey out of the water. His first try to climb the frozen part of the lake failed. He then swam to the shore, started plucking and eating the coot, and all seemed fine until a common buzzard swooped down on him, chasing him away, and leaving the prey to the buzzard.
