Known as the summer flounder, this fish is found along Florida's east and west coast ranging from Jacksonville to Jupiter. This animal can typically be found inshore in coastal waters consisting of mangrove shoreline, beds of seagrass, piles or rocks, and around eddies and low tidal areas. The fish displays a flat body structure with both eyes facing upward. In addition, the body is speckled with dots of ranging brown colors to help blend in to a sandy/rocky bottom (Florida Inshore Fishing, 2014). The body is round and elongated with several fins encompassing the perimeter of the body. The size of the fish seen are around 18" however these fish can grow to an estimated 30" or so. The weather was approximately eighty degrees Fahrenheit and partly sunny. There was a brief period of rain that soon passed, and the wind was blowing around 5mph from the South.
