Small tree. Twigs with tough fibrous bark. Leaves simple, alternate, with a cordate base. Star-shaped hairs are visible with a hand lens on most parts of the plant.

Inflorescence an axillary panicle, sepals grey-green, petals five, mauve.5-merous, petals mauve, prominent gland near the base. Fruit a 4-5- valved capsule to 8 mm long; seeds surrounded by white hairs.
