Thanks to a tip from D Seabury, I was able to find an interesting aggregation of this species, consisting of about 15-20 retreats amidst a complex network of orb webs and connective webbing. The spiders and webbing were placed in two adjacent six-foot-high conifers with a smaller Baccharis shrub between them. I collected two females and both key to this species. Comments welcome. Interestingly, an adult female A. gemma was present in the web complex as well.
