What

Shield Pinkgill (Entoloma clypeatum)

Observer

pinonbistro

Date

March 6, 2015

Description

Cap 3 cm. Growing in sandy soil under juniper and manzanita. Mild odor and taste.

There was cliff rose (Purshia subintegra) in bloom but I did not think to mention it until I found references suggesting that Entoloma clypeatum is mycorrhizal with bushes in the Rosaceae family.
