Near 1600 masl in pine oak forest ecosystem, on old access road to the Uyuca research station. This was in a grassy swale, adjacent to a small marshy spot at the northern edge of the Zamorano research station property. It was hiding but very calm. Someone actually stepped on it but it stayed coiled, and then hid in dense brush. Photo by cell phone at very close range.
