The empty shell of a Western White Slipper Snail (Crepidula nummaria), which I discovered on the beach at Greyhound Rock County Park in coastal Santa Cruz County, CA. The animal inside this shell died recently, as the shell retains its periostracum. However, there is some damage to the "shelf" on the interior of the shell.
