Description

Much of Burrum Coast NP was burnt in Dec 2019.

At this site, fire from the adjacent wallum-mixed forest area burnt across an occasionally tidal creek and salt-clay pan area on the fringe of the mangrove forest along the Gregory River.
The mangroves in the immediate area were Yellow Mangrove (Ceriops), White-flowered Black Mangrove (Lumnitzera), Grey Mangrove (Avicennia), Myrtle Mangrove (Osbornia).

Some mangroves were dead, some remained standing with leaves completely burnt, and others had lost many of their of their leaves while remaining alive.
Seedlings have begun to take root since the fire.
