Morphology and Identification
Cyanoplax hartwegii, formerly Lepidochitona hartwegii, is an olive green chiton with an oval body and very low profile. The coloration of these animals can vary, but it is usually a muted earthy green with some brown stripes and the girdle can be banded or mottled. The valve surface appears very smooth to the unaided eye and touch, but microscopically it is granulated.
