Patella vulgata, common name the common limpet or common European limpet is an edible species of sea snail with gills, a typical true limpet, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Patellidae.
P.vulgata has a conical shell with radiating ridges and the apex central or slightly anterior. The outer surface of the shell is greyish white and sometimes with a yellow tint. And the sole of the foot is yellowish, dull orange or brown with a grey or greenish tinge.
