Quercus ilicifolia, commonly known as Bear Oak or Scrub Oak, is a small shrubby oak native to the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada. It can be found throughout New England.

Bear Oak can grow up to about 30 feet high, though it usually remains a shrub. It has waxy leaves, somewhat reminiscent of holly.
