I used to be the worst of the worst arachnophobes. I couldn't get near a spider. My heart raced, I experienced nausea, the shakes, and all the the classic flight or fight responses. My husband brought me a wolf spider as a pet. I didn't like the idea, but we kept it in a little Kritter Keeper, and I named her "Fobia". Eventually, I began to love Fobia and to talk to her. I also photographed her and observed her every move. That was it~! I was hooked. I graduated to tarantulas, and I adore all 12 of mine. So, I went from being a complete arachnophobe to being an arachnophile. People think I am insane and they look at me as though I am more than a little weird. That's ok. I see it as growth and becoming informed instead of reactive. Though my masters and post masters are in English and School Administration respectively, I really want to learn as much as I can about spiders! I am currently interested in tarantulas, wolfies, and the endangered Spruce Fir Moss Spider that lives in my area. I have an ipetition posted on ipetitions to save these spiders, so if any of you are so inclined, please visit the site and sign the petition. In the meantime, I am here to learn as much about my little 8 legged friends as possible!
