Common in sand dunes. Shrubs completely decumbent, branches widely trailing, sometimes rooting on contact with substrate.

Such plants I had referred to as a sand dune genotype of Coprosma propinqua var. martinii ( as C. aff. propinqua var. martinii) but they are actually closer to, if not the same as C. propinqua var. latiuscula.
