We are hoping to learn about camas phenology and distribution throughout Western North America

Common camas, Camassia quamash, is a native perennial herb with edible bulbs in the lily family. The beautiful blue flowers grow in moist meadows and prairies in southern British Columbia and the northwestern United States.

Camas is one of the most important 'root' foods for western North American First Nations and was a very important trade item. Habitat loss and agricultural conversion have resulted in a decline of camas throughout its range. less ↑
