Description

This ant was observed on an index card baited with cookies and tuna fish. On the map, the ant was found in the general area north of West Hall and to the left of the soccer field.

Observations: This was a large ant, and was very fast. Its body was a red-brown color.

This ant was observed on an index card baited with cookies and tuna fish. On the map, the ant was found in the general area north of West Hall and to the left of the soccer field.

I could not identify this ant. It was a red to bright red ant of medium size.

Description

This ant was observed on an index card baited with cookies and tuna fish. On the map, the ant was found in the general area north of West Hall and to the left of the soccer field.

Observations: These ants were not quite as small as the tiny red dots commonly referred to as "fire ants." They only appeared at the traps in great numbers. They are a dull red to reddish brown color.

Observations: the ants were medium to large in size. They had a black body.

In the attached photo, this ant is the larger of the two shown.

Observations: the ant was very small. It had a black body and was only a speck to the naked eye.

In the attached photo, it is the smaller of the two ants.

Description

This insect is approximately 2.25 inches long and was found inside a decaying log where they often live and breed. It is black everywhere and has glossy skin, giving it the name patent leather beetle. The abdomen has long vertical stripes (relative to the position of the picture) if you look closely.

The fruit of the tree are green and the leaf is approximately three inches long. The height of the tree was more than 40 feet tall. The leaves have small thorn like structures that border the lobes.

"Three leaves, let it be" is the famous saying to go by. Most people are allergic to this plant, which may grow from the ground all the way to the top of trees. Be careful because they are everywhere and may brush against you if you aren't careful enough!

Description

This hornet was found inside a decaying log. It was twice/three times the size of a regular carpenter bee. There were white stripes with black outlines all over it's body.
