Small fly with large, colorful (primarily orange with spots of green and blue) eyes and sparse hairs covering the body. Body has a reflective quality with an orange tint.

This bee is commonly found on George Washington University grounds thanks to Hartmut Doebel's bee hives in Lisner Hall. They enjoy a diversity of plants and make honey for the Founding Farmer's restaurant in Georgetown.

Description

This damselfly was very narrow and the size of the lavender leaf. The head is dark blue with black stripes and the tail is a bright, baby blue color.

This is one of the most common kinds of bees found in The George Washington University grounds during this season. This particular one was found in front of Monroe Hall. It is the size of half of a human thumb and has a lot of hair.
