Description

It had a grayish and blackish skin which was scaly. It had long nails. Found in the rocks near the pepperwood garden. It is about more than 10 inches long. It seems to move really quickly when feeling in danger. Can climb trees and hide under rocks.

They were under a log and with a pile of eggs. Once we saw the ants they quickly scattered and hid their eggs. They were huge compared to a regular ant. The ants had a brownish reddish thorax and a black head and abdominal. They were about 1/2 an inch and they have six legs. Some of the ants were larger than others. Their eggs are white and oval. Their nest had over 50 eggs and they hid them within minutes.

Description

small white and gray feather, very fluffy. found in a patch of grass with multiple other feathers around (not from the same bird). The feather was approximately an inch long and 3/4 inch wide.

Description

I saw an orange/yellow flower with six folded spotted petals. the petals are 1/2" tall, a diameter of 3" and its stamens are 1.5" tall. It was located in a moist wet area with about 5 more in its area.

Description

A large, what I think to be a root nodule. It's longest portion measures 1 and 3/8 inches long. It has an almost mustard color scheme, that is hard to see with the dirt. Might be fungal. Found attached to a root under a large rock. It has a strong smell of dirt and rotting wood, to the point that it makes me recoil when I get close to it.

Description

Its a light blue/purple flower, with about 15-16 petals. Found at a clearing in grass lands. Long stem with about 7-8 flowers. In the flowers there were lots of ants. The stem was about 1.5/2 feet tall. The petals were split at the end in half. It was about 75 and overcast. And all of them came from the same root.

Description

Approximately 1 cm long and 1/2 cm wide. Found in sand trap (inverted cone of dirt) on the edge of the trail. Has a pair of pinchers attached at to the head. It has a distinct head region and a large abdomen and thorax (difficult to differentiate). Has six legs and a "stripey" texture. Possibly brown/ dark brown, but was covered in brown dirt. In the pictures, was shown in a petri dish surrounded by dirt from the trail.

Description

Has petals that are pink and yellow. In the tips of the petals are white puffs. At the bottom has a green/black spiky and sharp thorns.Down to its stem it had green leaves with hair and thorns. It is nearly 2-3 inches tall. Ants were located predating it. At least 3 more were located near this plant. Grew in a dry, grassy area.

This newt was swimming in a large puddle in a dry creek bed. The pool was about 5.5 feet in diameter and had leaves and grass floating in it. It was about .5 feet deep. It was 4-5 inches long.

Growing near a small body of water in a oak, madrone, and fir wood land. The petals are spotty and sticking out, Petals folded 1/2" tall with a diameter of 3". The Stamen +pistal are sticking out about 1.5"

Description

It is a small nest, roughly 4 inches in diameter, discovered in a cavity in a rock. The nest was made out of twigs and moss. It is about 1 foot off the ground in a fir/bay forest. Eggs are white with light pink speckles. A small grey bird was seen flying away from the nest.
