Found two sculpins and a dead one in a ten gallon puddle detached from the river, doubtlessly soon diminishing to nothing. The pool was thick with amphipods, but the fish didn't seem particularly overjoyed by this. Removed the two fish to the main channel, where I tucked them into some thick vegetation.

Rigor mortis has held the fins erect upon removing this dead fish from the water, whereas the live fish go limp. (The membrane of the fins appears to be receding, either by decay or possibly scavenging by amphipods.)
