Northern Pacific Rattlesnake (Crotalus oreganus ssp. oreganus)

Description

This rattlesnake is a dark and light brown color, with square shaped ovals on the back. It was a baby and we could tell because it was only about 1 1/2 feet in length, and it was curled up when found. It was located under a rock in a field by a pond, there was only 1 found in the area.

Description

The lichen has a whit-grey color and almost resembles to trumpets facing in an upward position. It was in a small group located on a rock, its 3 inches long and 3 1/2 inches wide. There is only 1 in the area and its in the middle of a grassy meadow that is filled with rocks.

Description

This oak is 30 feet tall with leaves that are 2 inches long but can vary, the leaf color is a blueish-green. There are a lot of moss and lichen on the tree, its location is in a grassy meadow but is next to an oak forest and there are only 50 in the area maybe more.

Description

The coyote brush was about 2 feet tall with a red stem, small dull green leaves which are 2 cm long. The bush its self looks dead and its location is in a grassy dry land but on the verge of an oak forest. There are about 50 in the area.

Description

The moss is an olive green color which also has a mix of white lichen in it, in certain areas. The moss/lichen covers 1/3 of the tree and the size of the tree is 20 feet long. This was the only log that was fallen in the area to have moss and lichen.

Description

A cricket that is 1/2 inch long, with 1 leg that is 1/4 inch long and 2 cm long antennas. Its camo with the dead grass so its a light brown color and there were about 50 in the area maybe more.

Description

It was white as snow and almost looked like it too from the top. From the bottom view it looked more like a mushroom. Its location was on a dead log next to a quite a bit of moss. There were 10 different parts on the log.

A yellow glob of fungus which is about 2 1/2 inches long and 1 inch wide. Its location was in a doug fir forest on a dead log and there was only 1 found in the area.

Description

A purple flower that has a thin stem and is a bluish color. The bottom of the flower part is a green color and the inside of the flower is a yellow color. There were about 100 of them around on the trail.

This is a very fluffy plant that is 6 inches long and 1/2 inches wide. It is very similar to a carrot and has a dull green coloring. There was only 1 in the area.

Description

This grass is is very soft at the end/tips were the seeds are located. This grass is invasive and it covers a whole meadow which should be at least 1 thousand of them. Its location is in grassy meadow, it has a height of 5 feet is a yellow green color.

Description

A very large maple tree which is 30 feet tall and there was only 1 in the area. It was full of green leaves that had the length of 3 1/2 inches long and 4 inches wide. It was located in a rocky forest terrain on a hill.

Description

The frog was very small being 1/2 long and 1/4 wide, with a copper coloring on the body and green coloring under the eye. It was located in a damp grassy pond just on the edge of the water. There were 2 other in the area that I saw.

Description

The Orb Weaver was a yellow/black color on its abdomen and it also has black on its legs. The web that it made was very sticky and bouncy almost like a trampoline and it was located on the side of a damp grassy pond. It is 2 inches long and is 3/4 inches wide. There were 3 Orb Weavers that were located and found by the pond.

Description

A lime green mantid that is camo with grass and has orange antenes. Its was found in a grassy pond area, is 4 cm or 1 1/2 inches long and is 1 inch wide. It was very damp in its location. There was only 1 in the area that was found.
