Apparently dying. Lots of dead branches. Surrounding buckeye are losing leaves (drought response) but some look like they are actually dying.

In Goodman cell 1 beneath the large Bay which was the herd's primary shade tree. This is the "oasis effect" I hear about from pastoralism who corral cattle at night. Plantain, Harding grass, aclover and an annual I don't recognize all germinating.

This is the very tail end of an exclosure where it was still wet. I am photographing to see what comes back relative to the exclosure.

In Goodman cell 14 after almost 2 days of grazing in ~4.5 acres w/ 115 animal units. (Need to calc density). This is my current notion of a well-grazed slope: good balance between what has been eaten and what was laid down, bunch grass thatch removed and "mulched" by surrounding deposition, and little exposed soil. Going into summer I want the soil protected like this. If this were October right before rain I would be OK w/more hoof action because it would germinate quickly thereafter and hold on to soil. But I don't want soil baking in the sun for 3 more months.

Reminds of bermudagrass. This seems to grow from stolons. Looks naughty!
