What
White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus)Observer
coleescDescription
The deer were off a bit in the distance. They were picking through the grass and snow. I didn't watch them for too long. I didn't want to disturb their chances to get a little more food before the next snow fall.

Around 8am, the driveway was covered with these tracks. They led from the bushes next to the barn, across the driveway, and back again. I thought it looked like rabbit tracks with a tail marking.

By chance, I caught this hawk flying over the yard.
What
Crows and Ravens (Genus Corvus)Observer
coleescDescription
Over the past four days, I have been watching a small group of crows, jays, and magpies. Early morning, they are loud, calling from the tree tops. They dash back and forth with each other. Previously, I had only seen the crows with each other or by themselves. There is an old barn standing in the center of our property. It appears as though they are all sharing residence in the rafters. The temperature increased this week, melting all the previous snow fall. This seems to have directly contributed to their activity. They take turns flying from the barn to the ground, from the ground to the trees, and from the trees back to the barn.
What
Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo)Observer
coleescDescription
Incidental Sighting: I was driving home at first they were crossing in front of my Jeep. I pulled over to the side of the road to observe them for about 20 minutes before they flew off. You could see their wet tracks across the cold and dry road. It was cold and just before the snow started to fall.

What
Deer (Family Cervidae)Observer
coleescDescription
It was too early to get a good photo. I was walking up the back hill through the woods to follow deer tracks, and eventually I was lucky enough to see that at some point the coyote picked up the tracks as well. They were side by side going up the hill. I also saw what I believed to be his nose track brushing the snow for a scent.

As I was leaving my house, a red tailed hawk circled over the barn a few times before perching in the middle of a tree. He looked back at me only for a few minutes before flying off again towards the back of the property in the south.
