I think this might be the bee we called tickle bees that we would catch when I was a child if they don’t sting hard. Although maybe we just caught females and got lucky.

Any ideas? Quite large for a moth so thinking a bigger one. Found on ground so not sure what tree it was on.
2 inches long and about 3/4 inches middle. Going with Polyphemus based on research and Inat suggestion.
